A Philly Minute with...Erin Carty

February 20, 2020

Name: Erin Carty

Club: Notre Dame Ladies Gaelic Football Club and Na Toraidhe Camogie Club

Position: Half Back in Football, left bench or wherever they need me in camogie.

Sporting hero: Kobe Bryant

Favorite song: “Bohemian Rhapsody” - Queen

Favorite food: Pasta

Favorite drink: Coffee

What Character in any show or movie are you most like: Charlie Brown

Ideal Holiday Destination: Ireland, Italy, Greece, or Croatia

Best GAA moment: Being selected as captain of the North American County U18 Team in 2016 or scoring a penalty in the Championship match of the finals in Philly 2018.

Ambition for 2020 season: To win the USGAA Finals this year, after coming short both in camogie and football last year.

Pre-match rituals: Sunscreen, don’t need my skin matching my hair color.

Any odd items in your football bag: Trash bags/DayQuil

Best trainer in the squad: Mo, she is always motivating us at training, or Maggie, she gives us good advice if we are sore or injured at training. For camogie, Tara always gives me good advice.

Your best ever performance: I don’t think that has happened yet, there is always something to improve upon.

One to forget: When I had a wide-open net to score on in a camogie match at the 2019 Finals in Leesburg, Virginia, all I had to do was hit the sliotar off the ground. I swung and completely missed the sliotar. Luckily, someone else scored the goal!

Where do you like to go out and celebrate after a big win: Black Taxi or anywhere with my teammates.

Who spends most time in front of the mirror in the dressing room: I would say Kelsey Burke just because I have taken quite a few mirror pictures with her.

Who’s the best/worst person to share a room with on away trips: Personally, I feel bad for anyone who has to room with me in general.

Who’s the best/worst person to sit beside on the team bus: Danielle, wouldn’t want to unexpectedly drive home from Charlotte for 8-9 hours through the night with anyone else. (At least we got a voucher from Frontier Airlines out of it)

Best piece of advice you were every given: “Next time your nose bleeds, don’t use the jersey.” -Ciara Trainor

What’s the best part about being a member of your club: For the Dames, they welcome you right into the team. They never make you feel left out. You feel like you are a part of a family when you are on the team. Everyone on the team truly cares about you. For Na Toraidhe, the hurling team is always cheering for you during the games. It makes me feel better having more support on the sidelines.
